What Is an IP Address? How to find it?

The IP address for Internet Protocol addresses is an identification number for network hardware parts. By using an IP address, the device can communicate with other devices, such as the Internet, IP-based networks.
Most IP addresses look like this:

192.168.1.20
Other IP addresses you might find look like this:

2001: 4860: 4860 :: 8844
What is the significance of these differences in IP version (IPv4 compared to IPv6)?

What is an IP address?

An IP address provides an identity in the network. Supply of home or business addresses with identifying addresses form a specific physical location, the devices differ on the network through each other's IP address.
If I send a package to my friend in another country, then I should know the correct destination. Not enough to post a parcel with your name by mail and hopefully it can. Instead I need to add a special address, which you can see in the phone book.

This general procedure is used when sending data over the Internet. Rather than using the phone book to determine the person's name in determining your physical address, your computer uses the DNS server to display its hostname to determine its IP address.

When I enter, for example, a site like www.lifewire.com in my browser, My call to this page is loaded DNS (lifewire.com) related to the IP address associated with the host name associated with the host and (151,101) .65.121) Made. Without IP address, my computer does not need to know what I am doing.

Different IP Addresses

Even if you have already heard about IP addresses, even if you do not know there are some types of IP addresses. When all IP addresses are made up of numbers or letters, then all intents are not used for the same purposes.
There are private IP addresses, public IP addresses, static IP addresses, and dynamic IP addresses. It's totally different! After these links you will find more information about the individual meaning. To increase the complexity, any type of IP address can be an IPv4 address or an IPv6 address. More information can be found at the bottom of this page.

Well, the use of a private IP address is "inside" in the network, because you are likely to go home. This type of IP address allows your device to interact with your router and all other devices in your private network. Private IP addresses can be set manually or automatically assigned to your router.

The public IP address is assigned outside of your network and through your ISP. This (H.D. Internet) uses the rest of the network devices to network your home or business network around the main address. So for your home appliances, for example, by going to your ISP and websites and directly communicating with other people's computers to the outside world.
Both private and public IP addresses are dynamic or persistent, which means they either change or not.

The IP address assigned by the DPCP server is a dynamic IP address. If DHCP is not enabled in a device or it is not supported, then the IP address must be manually assigned. In this case, IP addresses are called static IP addresses.

How to get your IP address

Different tools and operating systems require unique steps to determine the IP address. When looking for a public IP address you get your ISP, or if you need to see your router's private IP address, take several steps.
